We finally integrated our new license management, but don’t panic, alpha testers automatically get a Upload license installed that runs until the first of July.
There is not so much new in this release so far, but we prepared a lot for making SharedSafe a serious product. We created the first part of a complete product licensing infrastructure and are really proud of it. It does exactly what we need and is pretty simple to use.
So there is this new tab in the Configuration tool, I’ve showed you before in a previous post. After the installation of build 1611, there should be exactly one unpersonalized license:
And we have integrated new Application Icons, and we think, great ones, which finally match our product Logo :)
Besides preparing the website, the next steps are:
Notifications
Additionally to file changes in the system, the number of things that need to be reported are increasing, and so we’d like to extend the “recent changes” window with a second tab for important notifications, like about new updates or when licenses expire.
Better Error Handling
If files can not be uploaded for some reason they should be marked in the explorer accordingly. We will extend our test suite to simulate all kinds of errors and implement the code that resolves them or notifies users about how they can.
We also finalized the remaining usability changes for the public beta release. There will be a more specific terminology, a new, instructive launcher and context menus to link / unlink folders to Safes and to share Safes.
We stay a little longer in the Alpha stage, because the website is not ready and we need a lot of preparations on the legal side. It is much more difficult (and expensive) to get a website running in Germany than compared with in the USA. Fore example, we need to prepare all legal documents in two languages. So we really need to get the details right before we go public and face the sharks.
